Default the keys and joysticks are mapped to use with Tiny BASIC alternatively 'on Location' or 'on Character' can be selected. All mapping options are described in chapters below. To change and view the hex keypad to PC key mapping select the 'Key Map' button, see also chapter Key Mapping.
Mapping of the Studio IV keys are laid out as follows:
PC keys for keypad 1 mapping:
A | B | C | D |
E | F | G | H |
I | J | K | L |
, M | N | O |
Next to 'shift' keys above 0 to 9, comma and colon are mapped directly to those PC keys. So SHIFT A will produce a '1' but also the 1 key will produce a '1'. This will not work for all keys as the key on the PC keyboard needs to be available directly (not under SHIFT) and as such depending on PC keyboard variant.
PC keys for keypad 2 mapping:
P | Q | R | S |
T | U | V | W |
X | Y | Z | Return |
. | BS |
For the keypad 2 SHIFT keys only / - and ESC are by default defined as separate keys the rest is only available via SHIFT and specified character, also depending on PC keyboard variant.
