SHIFT

Next to 'shift' keys above 0 to 9, comma and colon are mapped directly to those PC keys. So SHIFT A will produce a '1' but also the 1 key will produce a '1'. This will not work for all keys as the key on the PC keyboard needs to be available directly (not under SHIFT) and as such depending on PC keyboard variant.
